It was our plan to adopt a dog once we hit our next location but sometimes (most times) things don't go as planned.  We saw Scout at a local rescue and we just couldn't resist.  While all the other dogs were barking, she was sitting still roping us in with her sad puppy eyes.  She looked relatively healthy but her coat was dull and she looked tired.  So we decided to adopt her, or I guess she decided to adopt us.

i live where? learning to move like a happy nomad

As many of you may know, I've recently made the permanent move out of New England and down to south Texas, soon to be Florida for a short while, then off to somewhere else (we have no clue where) for a couple more years, then off to somewhere else.. again. 

If you don't know me, let me fill you in.  I'm a tiny bit of a control freak who feels the need to nest everywhere she goes.  Not exactly the prime candidate for the military SO life, but sometimes you just meet someone who fills your other half and makes everything possible.

the grass is always greener.. my momentary desire to become a chicken sex expert

The grass is always greener on the other side.. no really it is. Sitting at my desk the other day my coworkers mentions a former client of his who is a chicken sex expert. Yes you read that correctly, a chicken sex expert or chicken sexer. He spent his days accurately guessing the sex of chicks, traveling around to various farms, and was paid astonishingly well. I suddenly found a part of myself feeling jealous of this elusive chicken sex guessing man.  He worked for himself, spent a good amount of time outside on farms, and made good money doing it.  I thought, well how hard could this job be, maybe I secretly wanted to be a chicken sexer.
